In an era where supply chain delays and global uncertainty challenge even the most resilient industries, Kimball Midwest has delivered a powerful response: the KM-USA Metric 10.9 Fastening System. It’s a new chapter in American-made manufacturing.
Officially launched earlier this month, this product is more than just a new line, it’s a statement. Built for strength, precision and reliability, the KM-USA Metric 10.9 system meets the evolving needs of the maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) industry while reinforcing Kimball Midwest’s commitment to quality and U.S. manufacturing.
The KM-USA Metric 10.9 Fastening System is fully domestic and is now standardized with a RoHS compliant zinc yellow trivalent coating. It’s a matched system with increased corrosion resistance.
KM-USA Metric 10.9 cap screws are 100% traceable, made from U.S. steel and follow ISO dimensional standards. The proprietary head mark means easy identification, and the 30-degree chamfered point provides increased ease of assembly. With a minimum tensile strength of 150,800 P.S.I., these cap screws provide outstanding strength and reliability.
The new KM-USA Metric 10.9 washers are made thicker within the specifications of ISO 7089 to make sure they resist bending and distortion, which ensures full clamp force is obtained, and stamped with KM-USA and the washer size.
The metric class 10 hex nuts are now stamped with a KM marking, creating our first private labeled hex nut. They follow ISO 4032 standards to complete the fastening system.
Answering a Growing Market Demand
This line doesn’t just fill a shelf; it fills a gap. The KM-USA Metric 10.9 responds to a clear and growing demand for domestically sourced metric fasteners. After the overwhelming success of the KM-USA Grade 8 fractional line, customers asked for a metric counterpart.
Their reasoning was sound: U.S.-based sourcing means:
- Faster and more reliable delivery
- Improved supply chain visibility
- Reduced carbon footprint
- Full traceability of raw materials and production, which are essential for safety and compliance in industrial fasteners
As market demand for metric fasteners continues to grow and industries prioritize traceable, ethical and sustainable supply chains, Kimball Midwest stands ready, not just to meet expectations, but to raise the standard.
