How to Thin Our Oil-Based Paint

Written by Kimball Midwest | November 26, 2018
Kimball Midwest’s line of Ultra Pro-Max Paint is formulated to be a direct-to-metal finish or can be used with a primer. This paint can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer. It’s designed to provide better coverage than standard paints and is available in gallon cans or spray cans.

While thinning Ultra Pro-Max paints is not recommended, you can use VM & P Naphtha, a petroleum-based thinner for oil-based paints, if necessary. Thinning Ultra Pro-Max paints may affect performance and finish.

As with any painting project, preparation is key. Before starting, make sure your painting surface is dry and free of dirt, oil and grease. Mix the paint well and follow instructions for best results.

Cure time is affected by environmental factors, such as heat and humidity, so make sure you allow sufficient time for the paint to fully cure.
