September is Food Safety Month, so Kimball Midwest would like to take a moment to recognize the food grade products we sell.
If you are in the food industry, your maintenance, repair and operation products must be food grade and compliant with Food and Drug Administration rules.
So, what does food grade mean? According to Industrial Specialties and Manufacturing, food grade materials are materials safe for consumption or safe to use in direct contact with food.
For the safety of those who might consume any food you or your employer are working with, it is important to make sure all materials are food grade. In addition to making food safe for consumption, food grade materials are meant to be easily cleaned and sanitized.
Kimball Midwest understands that when working with food, your equipment needs to have food grade materials. That’s why there are several product options to help keep your equipment up and running without further concern of contamination.
We offer three lines of food grade fittings to keep your equipment up and running: Super Speedfit, Legris and NSF Kimposite Push-to-Connect.
Super Speedfit Instant fittings are made with food grade Gray Acetyl Copolymer. These fittings are typically used with compressed air, pneumatic instrumentation, and circuit, lubricant and liquid lines.
Legris Nickel Plated fittings are made of high phosphorous FDA chemical nickel-plated brass with a Fluoroelastomer O-ring conforming to FDA standards, and all items are silicone free. These fittings are used for many industrial applications, including food processing.
The NSF Kimposite Push-to-Connect fittings are made of POM (Polyoxymethylene)/Acetal Plastic and are used for pressurized fluid transfer in food and beverage applications: food processing, hot and cold drink dispensers, vending machines, brewery systems, water purification systems and more.
Not only do we offer food grade fittings for your equipment needs, we also offer food grade silicone, white grease, machinery grade grease and anti-seize ideal for lubricating your equipment. These products will make sure your machinery and other equipment are running as efficiently as possible, as they are formulated for conditions within FDA regulated industries.
